There are some hints that show undesired effects when the hint maxwidth is not the default value (120). I had it set to 256 in trying to keep the hint to one line.
Those that had the undesired effects were “Dark Balloon Border”, “Light Blue with icon” and “Yellow Balloon 3”.
This problem does not occur in Windows 7.
I have attached an example of the problem.
Update: I have had to revise my project to not include AlphaHints if the operating system is Windows 8, 8.1 or 10. All exhibit erratic behavior to varying degrees. For example, some show the hint right on top of the control instead around the boundaries of the control.
What did Microsoft do to make this neat feature virtually useless in their newest operating systems???
Tested my project on Windows 7. Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 were loaded on virtual machines (VirtualBox) to test those operating systems.
