    Hi,

I did ask Sergii about doing some skins, but as I expected, he doesn’t have the time, which is understandable. He did suggest posting on here, so that’s what I’m doing 🙂

Just as a bit of background info, I’m ‘remastering’ a couple of editors I wrote for Command & Conquer (C&C) back in the day, now that the C&C Remastered games have come out. The Remasteres contains two games, C&C Tiberian Dawn and C&C Red Alert. Both games have 2 sides, GDI and Nod in the case of Tiberian Dawn and Allies & Russia in case of Red Alert.

I’ve attached a few images for reference (these will be over the next few posts due to limitations)

se2k_default.jpg – this is screenshot of the previous editor (SE2K) I wrote 20 odd years ago. The texture is also attached (for reference). The main thing here is the shaded caption bar – I don’t know how to make this in the skins. The rest of the ‘skin’ is basic windows controls, I never did anything as in-depth as is possible with your controls. Don’t worry about the text behind the toolbars, I’m not that bothered about being able to do that.

se2k_alt.jpg – this is just so you see how it looks with a different texture.

GDI-nod – these are the two sides in the main Command and Conquer series and the logos pretty much sum up their colour schemes.

The “_game” files I’ve included just for the logos really
td_nod_game – this is how the game looks when playing as nod in Tiberian Dawn
td_gdi_game – same, but when playing as GDI in Tiberian Dawn
redalert_allies_game – same, but when playing as allies in Red Alert
redalert_ussr_game – same, but playing as USSR in Red Alert
redalert_allies_ui – the options screen when playing as the allies
redalert_ussr_ui – the options screen when playing as the russians
td_ui – options when playing in Tiberian Dawn (both sides share the same UI)
td_ui2 – alternative screen showing a listbox control in Tiberian Dawn.
new_editor – just so you can see how great the new editor looks with the Aluminum 2 skin – it’s awesome!

In an ideal world (and to be honest, it will depend on the cost of getting the themes created – the editors will be free), what I would like is:

    * Aluminum 2.0 Skin – this would be the new editor’s default skin, but tweaked so it has the shaded, inset section in the window caption area, as with the SE2k skin
    * SE2k Skin – based upon “clean card” skin perhaps, but with the texture & the caption bar change?
    * GDI / Nod Skins – based upon the Tiberian Dawn UI (the Green ‘scanlines’ graphic in the td_UI images could look pretty cool in the panel backgrounds?) I’d imagine both skins would be identical, but with the GDI or Nod logo shown in a similar way to the steam logo on the Steam2 skin. (Although I notice the steam logo doesn’t show through on a panel background, but does on a Page Control (see attachment) – is there a reason for that?)
    * Allies Skin – Based upon the Redalert_allies_ui
    * USSR Skin – Based upon the Redalert_ussr_ui – basically these two are very similar, just with red or blue control themes.

Is there also a reason why you can’t put a texture behind the TsTreeview client area – as you can see, I managed to do it in SE2k, although I’m sure that was a custom component. (Edit: I did, TTree, part of TChart!)

If it helps, I can probably get the User Interface textures out of the game files for you, they’re almost certainly in there.

Hopefully that helps, If anyone is interested in helping me, it would be much appreciated, please just reply below 🙂

    Regards

    Steve.
